The great American poet, Frank O’Hara, a curator at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, would
famously step out of his office at lunch time and stroll the streets of
Manhattan, picking up the sights, sounds and sensations that he later captured
in the best-selling LUNCH POEMS,
which appeared to great acclaim in 1964. O’Hara’s poetry was featured several
times in the tv series, Mad Men.
In this free,
practical workshop you’ll learn how to apply O’Hara’s simple poetic technique
and write original poems of your own.
Lyons, has been teaching, writing and translating
poetry at home and abroad for over 40 years, and in this hour-long workshop he
will demonstrate how easy it is to unlock the poetic soul that lies within you.
No previous required!
So come and express yourself! Writing materials will be
provided and you can bring your own lunch to munch on as we work, but don’t
forget the sights, sounds and sensations along the way to the Hive, just a
stone’s throw from London Bridge Station!
