A warm summer welcome from the London Bridge InfoBike
This year, perhaps more than any in the recent past, it has been vitally important to offer visitors a warm welcome to London, and to show them the very best of what the capital has to offer. Terrorist attacks have made people think twice about coming to the city this summer and one of the fears of the Brexit process has been that it would make London and the UK seem unwelcoming to visitors from overseas.
While we know now that there was year on year growth from a lot of overseas regions June to August, many London attractions had a decrease in numbers over this period, although the picture varied greatly depending on the type of attraction. In London Bridge the general footfall was slightly down from 2016 after June but has come back strongly in September.
So, in it's 10th year of operation, the InfoBikes were in operation on the riverside in London Bridge, Bankside and South Bank, with an important mission of offering visitors a free information service as they explored the area and its rich cultural offering.
The two trained Officers on our London Bridge bike were located by Tower Bridge and Hay's Galleria every weekend over summer weekends, June to mid-September, and weekdays in July and August.
They offered personal, on-the-spot advice and recommendations to around 20,000 riverside visitors over the summer, highlighting the area's lesser known gems as well as directing them to the big blockbuster attractions. Our Information Officers also made sure that tourists found their way to some of the amazing eateries we have locally; getting genuine advice on places to eat is something we know is an issue for visitors to London.
With 2018 such an important year for London Bridge we'll be looking at ways to improve on this already valuable service for next summer and will continue to bring exciting updates, offers and news to atlondonbridge.com and the Riverside London App
