London Bridge businesses inspire local schools for Enterprise Week
On Friday 24th March Snowsfields Primary and Tower Bridge Primary Year Two classes embraced Enterprise Week by visiting businesses on their doorstep. Four retailers in Hay’s Galleria opened their doors to welcome pupils for a visit to teach them the ins and outs of running a shop in the thriving area of London Bridge.
Charles Tyrwhitt, Starbucks, Mon Bijoux and Absolutely Starving offered the children a varied perspective of how both large and small businesses operate. They had plenty of hands on experience; meeting with founders, employees and learning about the products.
London Bridge City Property Manager for Hay’s Galleria, Michael Moore, was on hand to give expert insight into the business of managing spaces; highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting the fascinating heritage of Hay’s Galleria. The children asked many questions throughout: ‘Why isn’t it called Michael’s Galleria if you’re the one managing it?’, was a firm favourite.
Parents from the two primary schools also benefitted from Enterprise Week by attending a workshop delivered by EmploySE1, the employment programme dedicated to sourcing and placing local talent within SE1 businesses. The workshop introduced parents to local employment opportunities through the programme and had an excellent response: just days after the workshop many parents submitted their CVs and were invited for interview.
The local business community has always been keen accommodate initiatives that inspire the future generation and Team London Bridge are delighted to facilitate these connections.  We hope the children’s experience inspired lots of ideas for their Enterprise Week project and beyond.

If you are a business or professional based in London Bridge and would like to find out more about opportunities to help these schools on projects like this one or others, please get in touch with Sofia on sofia@teamlondonbridge.co.uk.
