Team London Bridge offers support to build resilient businesses

Following the tragic attacks of June 3rd and subsequent talks with our members, it was clear that the need for support and training in business continuity and resilience was greater than ever – not only specific to terrorist incidents but concerning any event that causes significant organisational disruption.
In response, Team London Bridge partnered with Better Bankside on August  9th to deliver a morning workshop focusing on these issues; kindly hosted by PwC at More London and delivered by expert speakers:
  • Superintendent Liz Hughes from Southwark Police reflected on the lessons learned from the tragic attacks of June 3rd and welcomed any concerns or comments from the business community.
  • PC Paul Johnston from the Counter Terrorism Focus Desk also spoke, explaining the ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ element of the larger Project Griffin* seminar.
  • Jamie Boam from the Metropolitan Police’s business continuity team providing advice on what to consider when compiling a plan and the importance of continual testing.
  • A tabletop exercise was run by Andy Snazell (Emergency Planning & Resilience Manager at Southwark Council and former London Fire Brigade Borough Commander) to put the morning’s learning into practice. The scenario revolved around the impact of severe and prolonged flooding affecting the business premises - encouraging participants to discuss the challenges their organisation would face in both the short and long term, and of course how to overcome them.
A detailed summary document of the event with all relevant information, useful resources and feedback from the tabletop exercise will be made available shortly. We’ll also be running more of these events in future, to be the notified and for further security updates, please sign up here.

These seminars are designed to train the general public in identifying potential terror threats (e.g. suspect packages and hostile reconnaissance) as well as how to stay safe during an attack. Team London Bridge host monthly sessions at our community space, however if you would like PC Johnston to deliver one just for your business please contact him via paul.johnston@met.pnn.police.uk

Public Health and the Southwark Wellbeing Hub will be holding Information and Advice Sessions to support businesses and their employees around Bankside, London Bridge and Borough Market who have been directly or indirectly affected by the attack on 3rd June 2017.
The first session will take place on Thursday 14th September 2017, 09.00am-11.00am at the Southwark Cathedral which is ideally located for Better Bankside and Team London Bridge businesses. More details here.
